500 to 750 converison

Hello,

I'm just wondering if or what could be done to convert my 500 to a 750 or more. I've been playing with the idea of selling it for a faster bike, but, I really like the look of the Street.

I really wish the aftermarket parts scene would hurry up!!

Traid Up to the 750 or V-Rod. That is what I would do.

I would think the conversion would likely cost you more. I can't imagine needing more power than my 750 provides but I can certainly imagine wanting more. I have sat on a few V-Rods when at the dealer. Recently sat on an Indian Scout and will test ride one Saturday.

Well I thought about trading up to a 750 but, I paid less than 4K for my 500 brand new and don't really want a payment right now :/

I was thinking about looking into trading up to the 750 maybe a used one with a little more miles to see how much $$ they would want from me

I know this is an old post but can anyone share some insight here as to what can be done to turn a 500 into a 750 as far as i understand the motors are the same just different bore size? So all that would have to be done is get a set of 750 heads and pistons and bolt on ? Or bore out the 500 heads? Is that correct? If this is the case I'm thinking other then make two off the same motor with different bore sizes perhaps harley just made them all 750s then added sleeves to lower the bore to 500cc? Can anyone help me out here . I'm from Australia and we dont get the 750 and i love the look of the street but a 500 just isn't enough thanks in advance any help would be appreciated

Best way to turn a 500 into a 750, in my opinion, is to trade it in, and buy a 750 ............. what you should have done in the first place, lol

Any savings buying a 500 will be long gone in the conversion costs to a 750, then you'll have to consider if that just voided the warranty too.

(Yes, you're from Australia, a country that does not have the 750. Even importing one, and paying the duty would give you a better bike. Fins are polished on the 750 engine, not on the 500, wheels have a polished edge on the 750, not on the 500, AND, you wouldn't void the warranty)

I hate autocorrect. I always end up posting some thong I didn't Nintendo.

Talked to a couple guys here in Wisconsin who were going to convert a 500 to a 550 with a piston 2mm wider than stock. the same for a 750 to 800. Not a cheap proposition. Otherwise get v&h FP3 air intake an different exhaust.

Ever since I've been on this site I've wondered why the 750 is not available in Australia. To me, that makes no sense whatsoever.

due to our learner restrictions they didnt bring that 750 out as it wasnt LAMS approved. they wanted to target all learner riders to get on a harley and bring the younger generation into it.

i also think they didnt bring the 750 out here because it is to close to the iron 883 and they didnt want to stop sales of that.

@julzie93,

Thanks. Now, I haven't a clue as to what LAMS stands for. Is that some sort of a regulatory agency? I presume that the reference to IRON 883 is a H-D marketing decision?

LAMS means learner approved motorcycles. when someone first gets their licence they have restrictions on what they can ride.

yes i do believe its a marketing decision.
