Headlight Repair

Is it easy to swap my old headlight that has gone out for a new one?

You mean put a new bulb in it? Very easy, there are two retaining screws at the bottom of the headlamp, remove them and the lens will free to move. Then disconnect the headlamp connector from the bulb. There is a spring retaining clip that holds the bulb in place, remove that and the bulb can be taken out.

While your at it, with a little more work you can put a LED type replacement in and have a better headlamp. You can get them off Amazon for about $50US.

Here's a video on installing a Daymaker LED headlight:

Even if you aren't replacing the lamp with this one, it's basically the same process to remove the original and reinstall a replacement bulb or a whole new headlamp. If you are planning on much night riding, upgrading the headlight is highly recommended. The stock light just isn't much help.

Yesterday I installed a new Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulb. It sure is a difference from the standard bulb. Was considering a whole new headlight assamblly but wanted to try this out first. It is much "whiter" and hope to be seen in traffic.

Thanks guys. I just got this. I just noticed this in the weekly digest email. I've replaced the headlamp on a chinese scooter before. You makes it sound easy. A brighter more noticeable light would be great.
