License Plate Disappeared

My plate fell off or was stolen. What do I do now? Any idea how much that will set me back here in Texas? I can't afford to get a ticket.

You should probably check out the Texas DMV website or visit your local office that handles vehicle registrations.

I did a quick search on the term "texas lost license plate" and it doesn't look to be that big a deal. You can pick up the necessary form at your local DMV or county office that handles auto registration. The form is also downloadable. It looks like the fee is $6.00 plus a $0.50 "maintenance fee" per plate.

Awesome. I was thinking 30 minimum maybe 100 maximum. I still need the screws. Lol. Idk what to do. I want this done tomorrow. I hated my dealership license plate cover anyway. It was from Houston, & I'm in Dallas.

I found that I have to check my screws every so often. You can use anything that fits. Maybe a Locking Washer. Or one of those Nylock Nuts. The nut with the plastic insert. Often found on machinery.

49 years riding never lost a plate. Install it correctly. The plastic bolts work well and don't rust. Install all 4 bolts .

I have the Plastic ones provided with the 1200. I usually check them before riding. That 1200 has a Nice shake at Idle.

It’s no big deal as far as cost to replace. The key thing is to report it. If it was stolen they could be going through tolls. As long as you have something documented you’ll be fine.

I sold a car once and started getting toll bills. I did report it correctly with the new owner information and on time. I emailed the receipt to the toll authority and they sent me back a letter stating I was not liable for the tolls.

Hope you guys got my update. I think I sent it in an email. Thank you for reminding me about reporting it stolen. I didn't have the time. I worked in a car dealership. Punks would steal those dealer plates. If someone ran a red light, you'd get the ticket. I know what you mean. It didn't happen, but it was a concern.

Here's the update. I accidentally replied directly to someone. I meant to post it right here. lol
================================================== ==========

I went to the tax assessors. I paid less than 7 bucks cash. I got the plate, and I got my registration sticker. I was in and out in a shorter period than it took me to run back out to my bike and put my taser in my saddlebag to get into the building.

She mentioned something about my renewal. Something about do it by VIN. I've already got it, but I noticed my blinker wasn't working hence my next thread.

It was painless.

Oh, and I went to a Harley up here. I had a lot of warranty work done with them, Texas Harley Davidson. Those guys were so nice. I went to the Service Dept., and they gave me a free license plate cover with screws/reflectors. It was really nice.
