If you do consider a wheel chairs cost. Working on moving Payton to a power chair that rotates to standing position. This chair is to big for her but worked for the test. As that chair sits $37,000 dollars.
We have a long fight now with 3 insurance companies . As of now all 3 combined say they will pay $5,000 of it. And approval may take up to a year.
Smitty what is the working life of such a wheelchair? With our weak currency at 15 to the $ a chair like that would cost over half a million over here. Getting assistance from an insurance company here would be the same as drawing water from a rock. My eldest granddaughter has two cochlea implants and the cost of those 10 years ago was around $40,000 for the pair.
Just an update. keep in mind we started this at the end of last school year. We now have the first of 3 levels of approval done. The first level requires the proof of need for a wheel chair. Now I am not a Doctor . But when 5 very well trained specialist made it clear 8 years ago, she will never walk. I would have assumed that cleared that up.
As for cost we will pay it . But you still have to play the game.
She really did like the demo. That chairs was not sized for her but did give her an idea how the stand feature works. We are still in the process.
