electrical socket question - Harley Davidson Street Forum - Street 500 and 750

electrical socket question

On looking at my street 750, saw this red socket with plug on the right side (enclosed in yellow rectangle in pic) and wondered what it was. The dealership was clueless as well - anybody throw some light on this?

Parts manual wiring diagram refers to it as being for the purge solenoid.


Its not connected to anything on my Australian market XG500. Maybe its for California emissions models or something like that.
