Not much of a Price Gap

There is really not much of a price gap between the 500 and the 750. I just have to wonder why anyone is going to buy the Street 500 when there is less than a grand between the two?!

Street 750: $7,499
Street 500: $6,799

I think that is probably the point. Harley wants to price them so that it is an easy up-sell to the Street 750. Like when they get you to buy the bigger popcorn at the theater because it costs just 50 cents more.

Everything in these two bikes is same except the Bore. So it's really that 50 Cents upgrade offer!

Yea ok so Harley can upsell you the 750, they still have to sell 500's. That's my point.

This must be the reason why Harley doesn't sell the 500 here in India.

500 can face tough competition from KTM and upcoming Honda and BMW etc. and the pricing could be a limiting factor. 750 still sells as premium product due to cc alone.

I think that's a good point on the differences in markets. In NA no one would dream of comparing a Duke to a HD. I believe its more of an image thing, bike x doesn't fit the image im selling, but bike y does. Whereas "on cc alone" is a complete digression from that

It's more because this segment in a year or two would become highly competitive with all major bike makers along with some Indian manufacturers like Hero, Bajaj, TVS, Royal Enfield making their presence felt. India is a price sensitive market and cc rules.

But smoke will settle down in time to come.

Even Harley is playing this cc game in India. Like Dyna having old 96 engine and softail coming with 103 engine.
