Where do you put your gas cap when filling?

Title says it all. Just curious where you guys store the cap when filling? I've been putting it in my jacket pocket but curious if there is a handy spot on the bike to put it.

I usually set it on top of the pump, with the key in it, so I won't forget to put it back on. LOL

Same here. I put it key-side down, so it doesn't pick up any gunk on the side that goes in the tank.

I take the key out and sit it upside down on the bikes seat and place the key beside it, use to place it on the seat with the key in the cap but I had thoughts of it rolling off and hitting the ground breaking the key off in the cap that wouldn't be good. Strange things happen!

All of the other Harleys, that I know of, have un-locking gas caps. I wish that the STREET would, at least, have that option. If you ever drop this one and it's damaged in the process you will see what I mean. That happened to me and [they] had to replace the whole ignition system. I was lucky in that the damage wasn't visible so I reported it as defective and they replaced it under warranty. I asked, why not just replace the cap with the existing key code? They intimated that it couldn't be done that way-??????????????????????????????????

I have gotten into a routine. When I park by the pump I grab 3 paper towels. I run my card, then turn around and open the gas cap. I put a paper towel under it, and sit it key side up on the top of the pump. I pick up the hose and use the other two towels under it to make sure I don't spill gas on the tank. Fill it up, use the towels again to get the hose back to the pump, pop the cap back on. I then record the mileage on the trip meter, reset it, and record the number of gallons.

Seems overly complicated but really goes quick and easy.

I put mine upside down on top of the rear brake master cylinder with the key in (the key will slide down on the inside of the master cylinder and prevent it from sliding off).

Interesting feedback. Maybe Harley will come out with a $150 gas cap holder you clip onto the bars or something? HA!
We also have gas attendants by law here, I just have the guy give me the nozzle. No way some knucklehead is getting near the paint with that hose!
