Chrome Rear Shocks??

I searched, (with my limited knowledge of how to search these forums) for a thread on this topic, but couldn't find anything. Has anyone modified their rear shocks to make them black, like the rest of the bike? If so, how'd you do it and what did you use? Thanks in advance.

I believe you can disassemble the shocks and powder coat them, but as others mentioned its probably best to buy a black shock. You can get some for around 250-300.

Obviously powdercoating will be cheaper but much more labor intensive.

Yep, bought black Progressive shocks from J & P. Pictures in my garage. Unless one is adding a lot of chrome, I think the stock shocks look out of place. When I first got my first XG, I bought a chrome luggage rack and immediately took it back to trade for the black rack and then subsequently added black shocks. I even put black bolt covers over lots of the exposed hex heads. Bought on Amazon and/or ebay from Kiwav. They are called KiWAV motorcycle round bolt cap screw cover plug black for 6mm thread allen head bolts, ie M5 allen key. The picture on the left shows my fork with one of the caps removed and the right picture has all 4 covers on the bolts.
I am looking forward to finding a black trim ring for speedometer.

I thought that when you buy a HD, that you were required to add chrome, not take it away.

I bought a pair of Hagon street shocks. As I was the first XG owner to buy from them I bacame a 'test mule'. After a couple of thousand miles I swapped the first pair for a second slightly overdamped pair which have proven to be perfect. They cost a mere 140.
