First major problem

Had the bolt on the front pulley snap at 22k miles eating the drive belt and inside cover I know others has had this happen so just letting you all know.
Cost $200 and a couple hours of work to fix. Probably over $1000 to have the dealership do it.

Wow man glad you are safe... is there anyway to check the wear or to prevent that issue?

So is the solution to replace the bolt with another “stronger” bolt before it breaks?

I, like most of you no doubt, am on a few facebook forums and regrettably there is a **** of a lot of instances where this is happening on the Street 750 and 500. It can't be long before HD realise that this too is a recall issue. A lot of people are simply changing them before they break

I will try and get mine done as soon as they advise me that they have the replacement parts - on past recall performance though I will very likely be pushing up daisy's before that happens !!

So I just bought the bolt(ARP-156-2501), is it a simple matter of removing the existing bolt and installing the new bolt to torque specification? Or is there something unique about the installation that I need or should know?

I think you just need to ensure that you use some sort of lock thread? I am trying to source the bolt in the UK and as usual am struggling

Yes that is the one.

I would not consider buying a replacement from HD though as you would likely be replacing like for like and the issue would not go away

Thanks Botty, check with official Harley here, the bolts cost USD4.42, of course labour could be another USD20-25. saw the ARP bolt but can't find it here. my take on official harley, if after installed, it break (i hope not) say in 1,000km or even 5,000km, i can go back and claim against them. if i purchase the ARP and have outside mechanic install, and it breaks or loose or whatever, these outside mechanic will always has 1,000 answer why it break/loose and still not their fault !

unless anyone can just remove and insert the new bolts without knowing the torque, than i dun mind to DIY.

107 to 113 nm is the torque for the bolt according to the manual.
