Serious Competition for Harley Street 500/750

Here are some of the Details about upcoming Ducati Scrambler. And price just might be in Street territory but I guess with better quality giving serious competition to Triumph Bonneville to as something Classic.

The bikes are a bit similar but also are very different. They styling could appeal to the same crowd but they are not the same genre of bike. The Ducati is also significantly more expensive than the Harley. Definitely a good alternative to the Street though.

I don't think Scrambler would be expensive. Coming with Monster 796 engine, development costs are amortised. So would be cheaper.

They are absolutely going to be rials without a doubt. Anyone see the marketing Ducati has happening for the Scrambler? They're targeting the exact same demographic, albeit with a surfer tinge...

Puneet is right about amortization, and its not just the engine. The entire bike is a parts bin special, not that its a bad thing. Ducati is very much a lifestyle company like Harley and now with Audi as overloards there is pressure to make serious returns on that status. Scrambler is how...

I've never been interested in owning a HD... of any kind. In fact, when I was considering buying a motorcycle, I had been shopping and was looking hard for a new Kawasaki Ninja. Back in May my dad just happened to tell me about these new HD Streets, and it pretty much went in one ear and out the other.

The ninjas were just too plastic-y. When I saw the street 500 for the first time, I pretty much knew I was going to buy it. The one thing that drew my attention was the fairing on the headlight. That sold me on it. I know some folks here think that it makes the bike look cheesy - not this guy.

I was exactly like you, also was the type of guy who would own sportbikes and not consider a bike like this, and now i'm here... on a HD forum.

But one thing for sure is that I could never not ride a sportbike, i will need to have both a sportbike and a cruiser....ideally.

I think that the Scrambler will be more expensive than the Street. I also think that they styling is a big difference between the two bikes. If nothing else, people will be able to decide based on the bike they think looks best. It's also a battle of brand reputation. Do people like Ducati or Harley-Davidson more?

If Ducatis are anything like the Italian cars that I've owned, quality-wise... I like HD much more

I've never looked into the quality of Ducatis before. I just assumed they would hold together pretty well since the brand name is so highly-regarded, but i guess that isn't necessarily the case. Is Ducati known to have quality issues?
