Have the HD Street delays ended yet?

At the end of July word came out that Harley-Davidson was running into issues with shipments of the Street 500 and 750. Those issues were due to supply chain problems. The result was a delay in shipping motorcycles and dealerships having a very limited supply to sell people. Most of the Harley-Davidson Streets that were delivered were sent to riding academies, so that means that most of them didn't even make it to customers' garages.

Reports have stated that deliveries should begin to pick up steam in August. Well, it's August now, so I am wondering if people have begun to see deliveries resume again. Did you get your Street in or have you seen Streets on Harley-Davidson dealership lots? The other possibility is that we are still wading through this supply chain delay. I am hoping for the former.

The delay is not only annoying for Harley-Davidson customers, it is also hurting Harley's sales figures. Sportster sales have seen a sharp decline and dealers believe it is because people are waiting on the Street. Potential buyers are wanting to test drive both motorcycles before deciding which one to buy. That means that because there has been no Street to test drive, customers are just holding back from buying anything. Obviously, that is not the best situation for HD.

Have you been affected by the HD Street delays? Are you also considering the Sportster?

I was promised that the dealer had 8 750's on order and they would be there in two weeks. That was 4 weeks ago and at last word there no word when they would arrive. I am thinking of dropping the Harley and going with another brand like Stare or Honda.

For the most part I think any news bikes or even cars always go through delays but how long is the question.

I know your frustration, once I ordered a Mercedes-Benz that was brand-new and it was on a waiting list for nine months. The car was a present for my wife and she was getting really antsy about it after three months of waiting far it. I kept checking around at other Mercedes-Benz dealers and one day I walked into a dealer and they said they had one in the back and the order was canceled.

Me and another fellow walking in the back to take a look at the car, the other fellow was not interested because of the price of the car I looked at the salesman and said: can you add a phone and CD player to it, he said yes, I bought it right on the spot. I canceled my order at the other dealer and got my money back.

The moral of the story is: keep checking around and keep calling other dealers and you may find one in stock, don't hesitate to pick it up immediately, even if it means you have to drive 100 miles to get it. I know for a fact when it comes to motorcycle you may have to go out of your way to get the one you want.

One more thing be prepared to pay full sticker price; when there's a hot item nobody makes a deal with you.

Remember, a Harley-Davidson is a Harley and a Honda it's just another motorcycle.
It's almost like there are plenty of watches out there, but there is only one Rolex.

yeah it always happens and it's just a part of being an early adopter unfortunately, but if you want in first on a new product this is what you have to go through.

I'm assuming they will get them to people in August. It just means that it could be late August instead of early August. I'm sure its something that Harley is feeling pretty strongly about. They don't gain anything by keeping people waiting. Also remember that they haven't launched a new product in a pretty long time. It could be some growing pains.
