Help with Vance and Hines comp. Series slip on

So I got a Vance and Hines competition slip on for my 2015 Harley Street 750. I got it on no problem, but my friend and I decided it would be a good idea to tear the baffle out for a minute (sounds like a real motorcycle now hahaha)

However I am trying to not break the law lol, I tried to put the entirety of the guts back in, minus. Some packing, but I can't get it back in. Is it just the clamp holding the slip on in that's just pinching too tight or am I missing the trick here lol. Thanks for the advice!

Btw, FANTASTIC pipes. Should be the first part you buy for thhese
