Test ride & my first impression :)

REPOST

TEST RIDE & MY INPUTS !!!
I had the privilege of test riding street 750 yesterday ,I was one among few to get test ride at bangalore @ tusker harley showroom ,Bangalore ,India...
I went to the showroom at 11:30 am ,I was greeted my SE he asked me for my driving license n my credit card
I was wondering why did they need my credit card ,I just handed over them both n filled a liability form ,we came out of the showroom there was a red street 750 parked outside first thing which caught my eye was the fairing was removed and it was looking much much better than the one with fairing
U can see that in below pic ,courtesy tbhp I was so much excited n was waiting for this months together I totally forgot to take pics ,my apologies to all

As u can see the bike looks totally different ,but one draw back of it is the mount to which the fairing is bolted can be seen next to the headlight n it can't be removed sadly ...
Moving on the bike was looking awesome in person ,red looks really good and it has that visual appeal ,I want to make one point here the most important one the wiring mess n exposed wiring was not to be found which was found in display bike ,Except for bundle of wires between tank n handle bar...
Finally my SE handed over me a key and told me its all yours ,I asked him wether anyone accompanying me he said no ,then I realized why they took my credit card ...
I quickly turned on the ignition ,the speedo needle rose up to max kph n settled down ,pushed the start button 750 cc V twin came to life ,my heart started pounding faster ,I quickly checked all the controls on switch gear ,brakes ,clutch ,handle reach ,my both foots were firmly planted on ground with not feeling any weight of the bike was very reassuring and calmed my nerves ...
Quickly I changed to first gear n slowly started riding the bike ,I want to mention here for me clutch was bit on harder side ,and the gear changes weren't that smooth ,it made clunky noise everytime I changed the gears...
After few meters I reached a signal ,n changed the gear back to neutral it was so easy to find neutral I rode 12kms that day in hectic traffic n few open roads & I must say am I was left with a smile on my face and a whole lot of satisfaction which I couldn't explain...
PERFORMANCE I think the performance of this engine is the best part ,there's no noise are vibrations from the engine even at idle or at speeds of 140 which I clocked ,the acceleration is so good in this bike after riding just a kilometer I started trusting the bikes character and was piercing traffic like as if other vehicles were in stand still... Coming from 200cc and few days 500cc bikes I must say I was more than just happy to put my money on the bike just for the engine & caring less about other aspects
HANDLING & COMFORT coming to next awesome part of the bike handling off this bike is top notch compared to all other bikes I have ridden ,it made me push the bike more and corner hard ,the handle bar was good n I though if it was more closer to the rider it would have been even better ,it's so easy to maneuver the bike in bumper to bumper traffic it left me smiling ,u won't feel as if ur riding a 220kg bike ,the ground clearance is just awesome u won't scrape the underside even in the worst pot holes or speed breakers in Bangalore I was vet much impressed ...
The seating position is very good ,the padding and the saddle is adequate u won't slide off on quick acceleration ,I liked the position of foot pegs they were perfect for me ,coming to tires they are really very good not like the hard zappers which I had on my Yamaha FZ ,SUSPENSION this is one more highlight of the bike it has been tuned on too a softer side and it does justice to the bike it absorbs almost everything they make the ride even more pleasurable
I had one issue with seating posture ,I started having pain in my hips probably I wasn't use to this posture/position ,anybody else faced similar problem ????
BRAKES ,I think it was good enough I rode the bike in some serious heavy traffic n some open roads I never felt the brakes were inadequate ,there was no locking even on hard breaking ,that's my impression...
All in all I think it's value for money ,I wonder what the prize of the bike would be if it was not manufactured here & they had produced the bike through CKD ???
THINGS which I dint like was ,the switch gears were made of poor plastic even 100cc bikes manufactured in india has better plastic ,headlight will always be on I think it's the same for all Harley's ,no pass button n u have to toggle the button for it ,rear view mirrors are useless even for my small built the mirrors get obstructed n it won't serve any purpose brakes could have been better ,no ABS option ...
ENGINE heating up yes it was heating up ,rear engine is very close to left thigh and u might feel ur thigh might get toasted lol ,but actually it won't ,u only feel the gush of hot air and heat wen u stop the bike ,the hear dissipation is very good ,radiator is very functional n one more interesting fact is the radiator is quiet silent ,if u don't tend to notice it u won't hear it

I was very happy that I booked the bike on 1st day ,can't wait to get my hands on the bike ,it's seriously is value for money ,i don't think I will ever sell this bike to upgrade to another ,I will keep this n buy another bike if need arise overall HD deserves thumbs up for this bike ...

Oh I forgot to mention ,it surely is a big attention grabber n head turner lol ,young & old alike were very keen about the bike ,many asked me weather it's a imported bike ,I proudly told them it's manufactured in INDIA and it is exported outside
I was kind of feeling very conscious of all the attention it garnered in every traffic signals ,I think it's difficult to park the bike in unfamiliar places in India coz people will definately Fidel with the bike n can expect scratches on the bike lol

One more thing which I missed was exhaust note ,nothing to say here everyone knows about it ,but I must say one thing it has it's own signature sound ,I don't think I will be wrong if I say in coming future these liquid cooled engines might find way to all the harley line up for sure n eclipse the air cooled engines ...

The credit card is taken for if at all you damage the bike, they'd recover the money from u. Got it?
Ideally these assholes should of told you the reason for taking your credit card. You have every right to ask them.

The dealers don't have insurance in case you prang a test bike, they take it out of your credit card? Never saw that in the US.

No insurance is weird, maybe that's due to what regulations are like in india that affect how dealers go about things

Thanks for sharing your experience santhosh, the pic shared above, the one without the fairing definitely gives a completely fresh look to the bike!!
I understand that there is an issue with the rear view mirrors... May be the downward mount mirrors shd solve the problem and also increase the appeal of the bike
I am a bangalorean too and i would be heading down to the tusker harley to test ride the baby vrod very soon..!!
I have no issues with the bike.. in fact i love it!but i'm only worried if the bike would suite my height- I'm 6.1!! and i see a lot of reviews abt the street750 that says it is not very comfortable for tall riders!

Santhosh, you have told the you were very comfortable on the saddle..how tall are you?

santosh I was wondering if you could clear something up for me. Does the REv X sound more like a euro V-Twin than a harley V-Twin? I'm talking about the silky rumble of say an 848 evo or something... Thats at least what I'm kind of getting from the videos but videos always hide the subtle dB's....

It sounds like a V-Rod, more like an early Aprilia RSV1000 than the distinctive bark of a 90 degree V-Twin like a Ducati, Suzuki TLR-1000 or Honda RC-51.
