Stone Free Rides Into Town

Just found this forum and that was a pleasant surprise. Glad to be a member. I look forward to having a lot of great discussions with other members. There is a lot I will share and I wish I had the time right now but unfortunately I have a business meeting across town in an hour. I'll be back this evening.!!!

Hey @StoneFree

Welcome to our forum! Glad to hear that you are excited to discuss and contribute.

Do you currently own a Harley or will the Street be your first one?

Hi Yusef,

I actually own two. I have a 2007 XL50 (50th Anniversary) Sportster and a restored museum quality 1976 (Aermacchi) Harlely-Davidson SS250. I've attached a couple of pictures and there is another one on my profile. I'm an "Old Fart" that has owned Harleys and other motorcycles going back to the 1960's.

There is so much to share that I can't put it in a single post (and some of it is more applicable to other forums here) so I'll be brief. I've recently gone into semi-retirement from years in aerospace and will be starting a part new "career" as a sales associate at my local Harley dealer later this month (just in time for the arrival of the Street 750 and Street 500 due in April). I have "dibs" on the first 750 they get but it is for a project that I will cover in a new thread called "Stone Free II Project" that members should find very interesting.

Santosh,

Making the career change is exciting and I'd been considering it for a couple of years. Nothing could be more unrelated than aerospace manufacturing engineering-planning and selling motorcycles but Harley dealers don't really "sell" mototcycles. They help customers purchase Harley-Davidsons.

What appealed to me, other than it dealt with Harleys that I've loved riding for years, is that it is seasonal so I don't have to work at it all year long. For me, even during the spring and summer when most motorcycles are sold, I can still work part time at it. Aerospace was generally 50-hr weeks, sometimes more, and even a 32-hr week is going to be much easier on me.

Yes, I'll give all of the advice I can for anyone that asks. Heck, I'll even sell you a new Street 500/750 and ship it right to your doorstep. LOL

New Avatar

I've changed my avatar and thought I'd take a moment to explain it.

As I've mentioned before my use of "StoneFree" as a user ID and for the Stone Free II chopper project (and Stone Free Manufacturing) was not arbitrary. It was based upon this helmet that my older brother created and used in desert racing from 1969 to about 1972.

My Stone Free II chopper, when complete, will have it's paint scheme is based upon this helmet.

Last week I commissioned Paris Martin of Rooster Designs recreate the artwork and this is that recreated artwork.

Always remember that for every mile of highway there are two miles of ditches.
