How do you prefer to ride? Would you rather sit back and cruise, or... do whatever it is you do on a sportbike?
Personally, if I ride a sportbike, I have the urge to use the potential of the bike, like the 13k RPM redline. Put me on my Sporty and I tend to lug it and cruise most of the time. Maybe it is because sportbikes sound like crap unless you are winding them? I don't know, but there is a much less chance that I will spend any time in the courtrooms by invitation of the local police while on a Harley.

What king of riding are going to do? 200 miles on my sport bike is like doing 1000 miles on my cruiser. Also I can get away with a lot more as far as the cops go on my cruiser than my sport bike. I'm sure I will also live longer riding cruisers than sport bikes, I just don't take the chances on the cruisers that I do on my sport bikes. Yes I do tend to ride a little crazy on my old FZR 1000.

Welcome to the forum.
The best thing to do is WAIT. WAIT till you can ride the Street to see if it's really what you want and go from their.

It really depends on which riding position you are most comfortable with and whether you want to preserve your back or not. Street bikes are fun but can get you in to trouble not to mention the attention from authority. I find that polce pays more attention to the sport bike crowd.

Which bikes have you owned in the past?

I think it's sort of fair that cops pick on the sport bike crowd. When I go to bike meets I always notice they're the one's doing stupid things that attract unwanted attention
