New 750 Owner in VA

Hi Guys! I wanted to get back into riding after 15 years off and my wife got interested too and took the Harley New Riders course a few weeks ago (we're both retired USAF and they had a Military special for the course). Anyway, we ended up getting her a 2016 Street 750 last week. Still waiting to get my bike (Softail Slim) so I'm learning more about her 750.

Welcome to the forum! Thank you for your service!

As a new rider I bought a 2016 Street 750 and have found it to be plenty of bike for most of my needs. After 2 years and 10K miles I did buy a second bike, but I'll continue to use the Street as my daily driver.

Getting the bike to fit properly is a good place to start. Consider changing seats if she is particularly tall or petite. Just about everybody winds up replacing the mirrors or adding an extension to get a decent view behind them.

She road a Street 500 with a Reach seat in the course and sat on the stock seat in the showroom a bunch. This bike came with an aftermarket Mustang Fastback seat which she likes better than the Reach or stock seat.

Thanks for the tip on the mirrors!

I use the long stem mirrors available from H-D. They move the mirrors out about an inch or two towards the bar ends and help a lot. The H-D Tribal mirrors and some teardrop designs achieve the same effect by elongating the mirror rather than the stem. There are some aftermarket mirrors that achieve the same effect, but our mirrors attach differently than most H-D motorcycles.

A lot of people go to eBay and find the Krator mirror extensions. The are inexpensive and move the mirrors out about the same amount and depending on how you orient the pieces can also raise the mirrors about an inch.
