Any IT people here??

Hi all. I need an opinion on something. May sound stupid. Concerning Backup drives.

I want to have a drive that can be used for Back-Ups (Tax, Money, Etc). Currently I am using a Thecus N2310. Nice unit. But Quirky. Works. Then doesn't. Was down for a few days. Now I got it working again. The Router sees it, Windows doesn't. And nether did the Thecus software. Nutshell, I want to replace it. With something less problematic. My Asus router has a 2nd USB port. One is used for a printer/scanner. Which I could attach a Thumb Drive, External HD. Or I can get another file server connected to the Ethernet. The Thecus has a pair of Intel 80gb SSD. Which was used in a Thecus N0204. Until the Ethernet controller went south. Resused them in the N2310. They're a few years old. But work like new. If I replace with another NAS, I'll need to get Adapters. Or new 3.5" HDs.

What I want to do is, 1: Backups, 2: Be able to share files between multiple PCs. I don't stream movies.

Thanks

I love my "Clickfree" back up drive. Clickfree Automatic Backup - Clickfree Just plug it in and it does everything, automatically, and schedules backups too.

I hate autocorrect. I always end up posting some thong I didn't Nintendo.

A year or so back I was given a Microsoft Passport 1Tb USB 3.5" drive. I have found this very useful for backups and moving things between my desktop PC and my laptop. It also is able to use both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports without a problem while being small and not requiring a separate power device.
