Any IT people here??
Hi all. I need an opinion on something. May sound stupid. Concerning Backup drives.
I want to have a drive that can be used for Back-Ups (Tax, Money, Etc). Currently I am using a Thecus N2310. Nice unit. But Quirky. Works. Then doesn't. Was down for a few days. Now I got it working again. The Router sees it, Windows doesn't. And nether did the Thecus software. Nutshell, I want to replace it. With something less problematic. My Asus router has a 2nd USB port. One is used for a printer/scanner. Which I could attach a Thumb Drive, External HD. Or I can get another file server connected to the Ethernet. The Thecus has a pair of Intel 80gb SSD. Which was used in a Thecus N0204. Until the Ethernet controller went south. Resused them in the N2310. They're a few years old. But work like new. If I replace with another NAS, I'll need to get Adapters. Or new 3.5" HDs.
What I want to do is, 1: Backups, 2: Be able to share files between multiple PCs. I don't stream movies.
