Victory Motorcycles is shutting down

If you haven't read the news today, Polaris is going to be shutting down Victory Motorcycles effective immediately. After 18 years, we say goodbye to yet another American made motorcycle company. I was interested in the Victory Octane, test drove it and was giving it great consideration for my next bike.

There are 4 guys where I work that all ride Victories. Really great looking bikes. They seemed pretty pricey so weren't something I was looking into, but always thought they were doing well based on how many I see around.

poor aftermarket support, really expensive for what you get, CRAPPY resale value and Buck Rogers styling...

It sucks to see them go under but I can't say I'm surprised.

Polaris is basically doubling down on the Indian and I think it'll pay off for them as a company but I am sad to see Victory go.

the Octane was in the top three choices when we picked up the Street (Indian Scout being the third).

A well armed hippie with a poor attitude about how the left has redefined 'Liberal'.

Wow -- I was seriously considering the Octane as well, that is one great-looking bike. Probably the only reason I don't have one now is the feet-forward position, I hate that riding position, but -- I'm shocked to hear that Victory is just shutting down. Hopefully they'll consider making an Octane-ish bike in the Indian lineup? Sad news.

Maybe Harley will make out better now. I saw the Octane. Thought it was nice. But I need Mid Controls.

Local Indian dealers will be getting the service and parts business for Victorys for the next 10 years. That should make them happy.
H-D finance has gone back up to 7.9% on the Streets, meanwhile Polaris is offering 1.9% on the Indian Scout 60. 0 down and payment below $100/mo. Going to attract some buyers.

Probably some, but having actually tried to buy a Scout 60 I can tell you it is a lot more expensive than the Street 750. By the time I had the options I wanted it would have run me about $13,000 for the Scout 60. I got the Street for less than $6,000 and spent about $1,000 in options after I bought it.

That interest rate discrepancy won't make up for the difference in pricing.

Prices differ by market area. Here, a Street 750 (2017) will cost you almost $10k Out the door. Loca Indian dealer has Scout 60 for about $1k more.

Prices vary by market area. Here, the Strret750 (2017 model) will cost you about $10k out the door. Local Indian dealer has Scout 60 for about $1k more.

Most People don't Qualify for the Low Rates advertised. I myself have a pretty bad rate. Partly because of the Yamaha Financing. They gave me a decent rate. But failed to inform me the Interest was Compounded. After 3 years of payments, I was still getting nowhere. Traded the bike for the Street. Which is a Simple Interest loan. Had to carry the Balance into the new loan.
