Cornering Question

Took my bike up the "Pig Trail" in Arkansas today. I have a general riding question about taking corners.

If it is a sharp enough turn that you really need to press into a counter-steer, do you also extend your inside knee to change the center of gravity and get that extra low profile for the really sharp curves?

Is this a bad habit?
