Yep the Harley cleans his clock three times. In the short/off the line torque is what it's all about. You gotta love it!

The rider of the sport bike wasn't even trying. The Harley is so weak the rider has to put the front tire against a solid object to do a burnout. The normal quarter mile time on an old Shovelhead is in the low 14's to very high 13's. Evos and Twin Cams aren't any faster because they are so much heavier. Modern Japanese 600's run the quarter in the 11's or less.

A V-Rod hooks up good and accelerates well out of the hole. In an eight mile drag a V-Rod can probably take most Japanese sport bikes. It's long and low, won't wheelie so rev it to eight grand, dump the clutch and let that wheelbase work for you. You are gone. But in the second eight mile of a quarter mile drag, the superior horsepower and lighter weight of the Japanese sport bike will clean your clock. At the end of a quarter mile, unless the other rider is ham handed, your V-Rod looses.

I live in a parallel universe but have a vacation home in reality.
