Harley-Davidson hires Ex-Gm Engineer Jim Federico

As fallout from the ignition switch recall continues at GM, yet another high-level engineer has cleaned out his desk. It's not all bad news for Jim Federico though, he has quickly picked up a new job at Harley-Davidson. It's a big job too -- vice president of engineering.

Federico had held many positions at GM. Most recently, he led a team of engineers in investigating the ignition switch defect.

At GM Federico was the lead engineer behind products like the Buick Regal/Opel Insignia, Buick Encore/Opel Mokka, Buick LaCrosse and Chevrolet Cruze, SOnic and Spark. Many of those are really successful vehicles.

Now Federico moves to Harley-Davidson's headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Let's see what he can do there in the future.

I think that he is somehow involved in the GM case still. So he may have switched companies, but he is not in the clear yet.

Not too familiar with Jimmy but maybe he could put in good a good word for the small things on the Street like the wiring and brakes

I guess we just have to see what he comes up with. The first project or design will be the most important for him, hes carrying a big crowd.

Well, why not? The CEO of Harley came to them from Johnson Controls (HVAC and car batteries, weird combo) and never rode a motorcycle before become Harley's CEO. He's the same doosh bag who moved all of Johnson Controls battery brands to Mexican manufacturing plants and who sold MV Agusta and closed Buell within weeks of taking over as CEO. I imagine he will bond immediately with a disgraced engineer from GM who is under a legal cloud. Birds of a feather.

I live in a parallel universe but have a vacation home in reality.
