suspension mods vs steering geometry

hi guys , my mate is currently modding a bike for fun and is intending to extend the front shock tubes by 3 inch , he also is going to swap the rear twin spring shocks for 3 inch longer units , he thinks that because he has done the same height change to the front and rear that there will be no difference to steering geometry and will still handle the same , im not so sure , what do you guys think ?

He's going to be effecting the trail measurement regardless of what he does to the rear suspension and needs to run the numbers to see if he stays within the typical 4" to 6" trail requirements for a motorcycle. Here's a link to a calculator he can use. You'd be amazed at how a little change can dramatically affect the trail measurement.

Thumbs up

hi stonefree and many thanks for that , this is the kind of help I was hoping for , ive had a quick look at the calculator and as theres no input for rear shocker height im assuming it makes no difference to the trail if you change rear shocks or not , so using your street 750,s dimensions whats the maximum length you can extend the front shocks before causing handling problems ?
im assuming you may already have done this for curiosity for your own projects ?
again huge thanks
