We rode 3,000 miles a bit shorter this year than others but for good reason. We hit more slow speed twisty roads in Tennessee and NC this year. It was an a amazing trip. On our trips we have encountered Bear before. This year was a bit close. We came around a curve on a one lane trail at about 15 mph. Standing tall was a big Black bear. She had a message for us, It is not visiting day at the zoo and you are not welcome here. I slipped the sidecar rig in reverse and backed away slowly. She went back down on all fours and watched us. When I was about 50 yards away she relaxed and then it was clear why she was so upset. Two cubs joined her in the road. She watched us but made no move toward us. She allowed us to sit there and take some pictures for about 10 minutes. Then her and the Cubs wandered off.
