Ridiculously priced rearsets

WHY OH WHY ARE REARSETS $599! WHY HASN'T ANYONE MADE A KNOCKOFF FOR HALF OF THAT PRICE?! China if you are listening.... Get on it. On the real though, $599 for rearsets is crazy, right? I would love to have them but I refuse to pay that price. I only see 2 suppliers for them and they look like they are the same product.. Chainsikle and Harley Davidson Street 500 Rearsets, Street 750 Rearsets both $599. Get the cuss out of here. PSH.

If you want to save weight off your bike, Get a Lithium Battery. I put a Hard Drive in mine. Only cost about 1/3 of the price.

That's because they ARE the same product. Right on the tuffside page, the first line in the description says "Designed by "CHANSIKLE" in collaboration with "CHAPPELL CUSTOMS".

Maybe, maybe not. First, there's no competition at all, so -- they can charge whatever they feel the market will pay. As tromp said, you could always make your own.

Second, they are much higher priced than tuffside's other rearsets. Looking in their own category, they offer six sets: five of them are priced from $140 to $230, and the sixth one (the Street) is $599. So it does seem unusual. Maybe it's because two different companies were involved, and they both need to make their money back?

I realized that after I re-read tuffside's page lol whoops. Maybe you are right about the two companies. It makes sense to essentially double the price because the two companies want a return profit on the item. I don't know why anyone hasn't produced another set at a cheaper price point. I guess it isn't a very demanded product?

I sent Chris @ tuffside an email asking him why the price point was $599 for their rearsets and this is the response I received:

"Other Japanese generic rear sets are just 2 levers and pegs.
Its about 5 times more work and parts to make the XG ones and they are also anodized black, not raw aluminum..time is money...

thanks
-chris"

Gage that is a good answer from Chris. I myself am not into rearsets, but have looked at a few racing bikes in my time and can only imagine the time and work that goes into getting all the linkages to do what you want them to do.

Just saw this on ebay. I have no idea who makes it or, well, anything about it, but it says it's a set of rearsets for a Street 750 and the price is a bit lower than Tuffside's.

$70 shipping. That's crazy. It is neat to see there is another supplier out there though.
