I have not replaced my fuel tank, but had difficulties with the locking fuel cap. For some reason the key would not insert fully - and I was not able to open up the tank for refueling. Because of the warranty, I was able to have it replaced at no cost. Unfortunately the ignition key lock had to be replaced as well. Has anyone else had issues with their gas cap?

Search the forum for "dropped fuel cap". I remember reading once one of the members dropped hid and broke the key. It was a big mission to replace all the locks.

Very interesting... Please upload pictures if you switch tanks. I'm curious as to how it will look.

If you search some of the flat track 750's that people like the rusty butcher have built you'll be able to see a street with a sportster style tank. Granted the back end will be different from stock but it should give you somewhat of an idea
