Question wash and wax

Ive got close to 500 miles on a new xg500, and its time to wash it and maybe give a little maintenance to the finishes of the bike. I have used zip wax car wash for other bikes. Of course harley specifies that you should use "only harley davidson cleaning products". What are you gus using? Also what other products are you using and are they working out for you?

What's your bikes color ? if its denim black you cant wax it will mess up the paint job! Anyways I use a non ammonia windex (Crystal rain) its the same thing as Harleys denim cleaner only about 65% cheaper. Other than that should be the same as any bike. And safe riding to you!

(My XG750 is "Denim Black" so I use the HD Denim Spray Cleaner on it)

I just use Meguiars Gold Class wax on mine. Mysterious Red Sunglow. Once in awhile I use their Cleaner Wax. As far as Washing, Mothers Wash/Wax. I got that on sale.
Now comes the question, What should we use on the Rims?? Usually I just use the Wash/Wax and a nylon brush. The Majesty had Aluminum. And I used the Meguiars All Wheel Cleaner. And the Cleaner wax afterwards.

Question

I was hoping for something that I might find at auto places local, with out the $25 a bottle prices. Im leaning on going with the zip wax wash and some other wax like I believe the mejulers is available at the big 3 auto places for reasonable. I see hds offerings at the dealer and of course they're crazy high price like most of their accessories and in the manual it makes mention to use only hd approved cleaners and waxes due to their special finishes may be harmed if others are used, I guess thats just the usual buy from us line. what lind of rags are you gusts using? I have ben using worn out cotton rags, I have a microfiber car washing towel. are they safe to use on the special finishes? I have the gloss black paint.

I have vivid black as well. Brilliant to look at when just polished, but I notice it shows up any mark or blemish like a sore thumb afterwards.

Try Walmart. Usually they have better prices than a regular Auto Parts store.

I know this is an older post however I'm using the turtlewax black series. It's meant for black paint jobs, and despite saying cars it works wonders on the bike. Only thing I added was some polishing cream after washing but before the wax set.
