My XG500 is a '16, so no digital tach. No gear range charts in the manual. So the quickest answer would be from someone with a '17 and the tach display. What speed is 5000 RPM in fifth and sixth? Somebody have a gear development chart? Without this information how do you obey the 5k rev limit for break in?

Sixth gear at 70 MPH is 4500 RPMs. Rev limiter kicks in a 8,000 RPMs
The 5k thing is a general target. Just ride the bike very your speeds don't cruise at wide open for half a day. The Street has a wide operating range in 6th gear. Keep it at 60 or so in 5th you will be just fine.
More information
The Street hits 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, and streaks though the quarter-mile in an impressive 13.69 seconds at 93.8 mph
