Had anyone added the fob alarm to their bike? I have the opportunity to get one pretty cheap and I downloaded the instructions and it's pretty much plug and play other then one step saying Harley has to activate the system with some program. I plan on making mine more of a local commuter and it will sit outside in iffy area for a few hours a few days a week. Only keeps an honest man honest I know but I'll always be within earshot.

I think you have to have the regular security system first

What I'm looking at is the complete alarm system and fob. The modules plug into the bike at a connection already in place. The tip switch bolts in under the seat behind the ecu, and the main module and back up battery plugs in behind the right side cover. Comes with a single fob HD wants $375 for it. I'm getting it for $50 as it's only been on a bike a week before it was wrecked. The manual says it just needs to be brought to Harley for some sort of final programming with a Harley Tool, and my dealer wants to charge an hour labor to do it. I'm trying to see if they just cant do it while the leaks are being repaired and not charge me or reduce the charge. I'm just curious to what the program HD uses as most of the fob programming can be done via the ODO screen.

Looks like I'm getting everything including the Siren for the $50. He bought the bike back from insurance and bought a Street Rod and it has the alarm setup from the factory or the dealer added it. He's also got the tall rider seat with a tiny tear he's tossing in the deal. Motor is tucked away for a later date for a parts motor. Pretty much the rest of that bike was destroyed in his accident. He said it's 2 fobs and 3 modules one with a wire hanging out like an antenna. Said it all unplugged from the factory harness. So maybe I'll just plug it in, do the Fob Coding and see if it will work. If not ask what Harley Has to do that's so important. From what I'm hearing now the Digital Technician II is just a faster way to program the alarm vs having to slowly don't via the ODO screen

I'll keep you up to date. I'm across the state for the month but my friend has shipped me the alarm. It's coming from Alaska so it will take about the same time till I get home. The bike it came off of was also a 2017 with 6700 miles. He bought the first 17 to come to his dealer in Alaska last summer. And o did confirm it will be 100% plug and play on mine and the Service Tool is not needed only to program the alarm easier as it takes a good while to do it step by step using the speedo. His 2018 Street Rod has the alarm and the dealer add the siren before buying it. So for me, I should be able to plug it into my bike, secure it and the alarm automatically work.

Yes the 2017+ has an updated harness to clean it up a bit and changed problematic areas. Why when the first came out I was unimpressed with the way they looked with wires hanging out everywhere when a lower priced Metric had a better harness. When I looked up info on the 17s it remedied all the problems I didn't like. One reason I went with it over my other choice the Bolt.
