So we are ready to order a Street 500 but even with the reach seat the bike has to lower to suit.

Is there any updated news on making it lower or an alternative exhaust which is narrower?

No on the exhaust. Yes on the suspension. You can use short shocks meant for any of the sportster models. You may have to remove the fender bolt vanity covers depending on the width of the shocks you use.

I seen a picture of another member here that had their local muffler shop make a set of twin straight pipes for his bike. there is also a you tube video I believe that shows a street model with those type of pipes, both didn't seem near as loud as I would have thought they'd be.
both looked like they matched the bike really well.

there is another post on this forum, where a member cut off 2 1/2 coils off his rear shocks, it lowered it to where the gap between the rear wheel and back fender was eliminated. not only did it lower his bike, but it looks really good lowered also.


he also mentioned that he cant tell any difference in the handling.
this is one mod i'll try before I spend several hundred dollars on new shorter rear shocks.
