I want to switch to LED turn signals. I bought some fork mounts, how does one go about removing the front turn signals? Do the stock mounts separate or do I have to remove the triple tree up top? Thanks!
The turn signal wiring runs under the tank along with all your control cabling. But the brackets are only locked into place with a little guiding notch and one little screw each. When I put on my Memphis Shades Gauntlet, I had to shift the tank rear a little to expose the wiring shroud, cut it back a little, and give the wiring a little extra wiggle room to mount the turn signals lower on the fork. Note to anyone doing the same thing on a 2017, the Memphis Shades Turn Signal Relocation Kit for the Gauntlet fairing will not work on the 2017-2018 turn signal housings, I had to reuse the old brackets and since the little guide notch was no longer of use, I had to simply tighten ever living **** out of the turn signal brackets to keep them from sliding around at high speed. But that's your answer, the brackets are pretty loosely held in place, and the wiring is contained in a shroud running just underneath the tank. If you'd like to see pictures, I can probably get a few up here.
