Hey All,
After much thought (procrastination) and a bit of trial and error, I’ve finally got my tail tidied. It wasn’t as hard as expected.
Simple steps:
1. Cardboard cut-out template (at least a dozen attempts)
2. Aluminum sheet template (only 4 tries to get it to fit)
3. Gal steel sheet cut, folded, test fitted (a few times)
4. Paint, refit and go...
The only downside is that none of my hard work is actually visible after it’s all installed.

I actually prefer what you have done to the commercially available tail tidy. It keeps full sized brake and turn indicator lights, which is important to me. Minimizing the lights to a few LED's like the commercial version does just gives car drivers another excuse to "not see" motorcycles.
