gear indicator does come in useful. but don't think the iron gets a fuel gauge.

the street is also lacking it as well. from what I can tell

I think there are some gas caps that are retrofitted with fuel gauges that we might be able to use.

I find myself "checking" to make sure I am in high gear when cruising, so I can see the value of an indicator, even though it is not a big deal or a necessity.
As for a fuel gauge, I reset my "A" trip odometer at every fill up, and leave it up on the display. When I get near 170 miles or so, I know I will have to stop for gas soon. After a few times riding, it is second nature, no fuel gauge needed.

No, a fuel gauge is an option you can get from H-D that will turn the front reservoir brake cap into a LED fuel gauge. For now when you hit reserve your odometer will read R and will count down to ten miles then will read LOW.

sounds like a well worth it option to go for.
i plan on riding this a lot and im sure i might come across situations where i might be stuck on the road with an empty tank.
