I am wondering what is supposed to be on this little mounting bracket with the 2 gold screw holes? It's Above the rear master cylinder and to the right in this picture. :crying:

I've seen that also and was wondering the same thing.
hopefully a member will share what it's for with us.

me, I don't have a clue what it's for.
Wow 42 views and no answer??? Wtf?
I'd like to see the answer if it comes out also......
This is weird the part was mostly covered up by wiring on my bike.I would also like to know what this piece is for ?
I'd never noticed it before. Perhaps one of our techs can shed some light on the subject. It's there for a reason but............................?

maybe its a mount for a future small turbo charger :D

wishful thinking I know...
Still nothing huh? Strange. At least we know none of ours are missing a factory installed part lol

On the models manufactured in India, this is for a brake reservoir filler cap/hose assembly.

Good Job - Now we know what it is for......
now I just need to figure out what I could use it for.
I read in my owners manual, it is the mount for the purge solenoid on the California models emissions. page 84.

I don't have my owners manual with me, but that's strange because CA doesn't do emissions testing on motorcycles, also because I bought mine here in CA and as you can see, I have nothing in those mounting holes? Not saying you're wrong just commenting that it's strange.

yes I do see that your California model has the same unused holes I have on mine also, that is what my Manuel says on pg 84 though. this gets more puzzling as to what and where is the correct info. maybe its like the other post stated, on models made in india, maybe the manuel may have a typo?

the mystery continues .....

The purge solenoid is up higher, and in that picture on page 84/85 it shows the cap of the rear master cylinder where these holes would be. It's def the rear master cylinder. :D
That smiley wasn't meant to be ... Dickish. Lol sorry if it looks that way

yes, I see what you mean. guess I need to get better reading glasses so I can see the figure illustrations clearer.

now i'm kind of wondering why our master cylinder isn't located there. :nerd:

(and the grin was just fine, no offense taken at all, I think it was a simple polite gesture that shows we can share information in an honest, open and friendly way. I appreciate the camaraderie we have on this site.!!)

Good point. Why would the rear master cylinder be in a different location on the India productions??? Weird.
On the models manufactured in India, this is for a brake reservoir filler cap/hose assembly.
This set up sure would make it much easier to bleed the rear brake without having to expose the reservoir.
Umm the better question is.....does the india model use a better quality master cylinder for the rear brakes!, I for one am contemplating using a xr1200 pedal/brake setup on both sides mounted to a custom built mounting plate, also was eyeballing the dyna fat boy forward control setup also.
