My wife just sat on the 500 today and I think she liked it. Hope to get her on a 750. She is currently on a 1100 sporty, but doesnt like the weight or height of the bike plus its top heavy. Most likely going to be looking at trading or getting rid of the 1100 and onto a 750 street.

Lowering the bike will be a must for her. Rear shocks look simple enough to swap and if someone makes a kit for the fork tubes (progressive) then Ill be in biz as I have put a set in my night train.

Looking forward to getting her on something a little smoother running.

That was quick work of things. Just told a few select friends about possibly selling my wifes bike yesterday. Guess we have a buyer for the 1200, now to finish that deal and wait for the 750 street to hit the....... well the street.

Wonder what the wait time will be to get one or if there will be enough to go around. I imagine she will want the red........ hope that doesn't make it more difficult.

Our whole deal selling the sporty hinges on her riding the 500 (im told it will be another week or two before she can actually sit on it and ride it at the dealership). I hope it happens pretty quickly, don't want the sale to fall through of the 1200 but don't want her selling it until she is in love with the street.

Don't know why I kept typing in 1100, not thinking I guess. Just so there is no confusion (if anyone is reading this) its a 1200 sporty 2000 year

Welcome to the forum @gongchuan

Hopefully everything goes well for your sale. Did your wife say anything about going from the 1200 to a street 500?
Welcome to the forum and nice to see going from 1200 to Street

She sat on the 500 but I want her on the 750. Still unable to ride on at the dealer nearest us....... we are not selling the 1200 until she gets to ride a street one way or the other.

After I picked up the V Rod and found out about the street I went to her with the idea. I sat on one in Daytona for bike week...... its lower center of gravity, less weight, and engine/tranny smoothness were 3 things she has always disliked about the 1200. The street is everything in these areas the 1200 is not. Its lower, center of gravity is lower, and it wont shake you to pieces at a red light/stop sign.

The V Rod is way to big for her (in her own mind not mine) so she wont ride it and being on the back doesnt really help, plus its a whole breed of its own as well. The motor smoothness Im assuming will translate from the Rod to the Street, the other components she will need to figure out on her own. After some research we already know the street is 100 pounds lighter than any other Harley has ever been so thats part 2 of the puzzle. Center of gravity is easy to see as far as Im concerned. She sat on it and feels what I see. It will all come together when she rides one though............. I know it will.

Wow 17 years is a long time, when did you start riding?
Good to have a long time rider here

At about 17 years old on the street. Before that I had bikes, but offroad stuff.
Im on my second Night Train, first was a 2000 I ended up selling to my dad after he found the 05 I wanted (new color, fuel injected).

The V Rod was a friends he had won in 2008. Its a limited edition Miller Lite V Rod. He kept it 6 years and put 2000 miles on the bike. After the engine blew up in his hot rod car, he needed money to build the motor so a call was made and the rest is history.

I started on the street with a 550 Suzuki. Since that bike I have had the 3 I explained above.

My wife has had a 86 Honda Rebel, a 97 Suzuki Savage, a 2007 Honda Rebel, a 2003 883 Harley Sportster Hugger, and a 2000 1200 Sportster she currently owns.

Nice, I know a lot of people that started out in dirt bikes, some really young. it always helps to have that sort of experience at a young age.
