Ordered a new Street 750

7286 Views 21 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Street750DE
My new Street 750 in black denim was ordered last week. Added screaming eagle muffler, buckshot exhaust, some custom willie g decorations, along with a luggage rack, sissy bar and backrest. And now, just waiting.

Welcome to the forum. When will your 750 be in?
Welcome to the forum. That's quite the set of accessories that you have gone with. Are you installing all of it yourself or is the shop doing it for you?

Be sure to post up some pictures when you get in your HD Street.
Welcome.

How much longer did they tell you the wait would be to take delivery of yours?

Have you owned any harley's before or is this your first one?
Thanks. I ordered it two weeks ago and it ships next week as a supplemental order to my dealership. The dealer had a red and vivid black there, but I wanted a black denim. The shop will install the accessories

This is a scale down from a wide glide I owned many years ago.

Nice!
Did they have any other bikes on display like that?
congrats and welcome to the show! they treat you right at the showroom, how far behind did you come out?
The only other bikes on display were two stock 750s -one vivid and one red; they treated me fairly and offered a decent discount since i had to order the bike.
From what parts do you hail?
Northeast USA. And the Street 750 in denim black that was ordered on 09/26 - still awaiting shipment from Kansas City plant....

Good to hear that they treated you well enough.
Keep us posted on when you street arrives.
I booked mine on 6th September at "2 Rivers Harley Davidson" here in Pune, India. At the time of booking the price they quoted was Rs. 4,67,000 ($7607 Approx.). I was told that they will deliver my bike in 2-3 months. I have been regularly following up with the dealer about the delivery, the last Sunday I went there they told me that I can start my Loan process and the bike will be delivered in 15-20 days. I was very happy because the dealer kept their word and the bike was going to be delivered exactly in 2 months. Awesome sales guys, good customer service till then.

Now comes the shock, I approached the bank representative and he tells me that the price of the bike has been hiked by Rs. 23,700 (roughly $400), that might not sound like a huge difference for the folks from other countries, but in India that's a bomb.

I immediately called up the dealer and asked him if that was true. Firstly the guy who picked up my phone didn't sound like he was talking to a customer (A bit rude and very different from the the way they spoke to me when I was at the showroom), I called them 30 minutes before the closing time and may be he was not in best of his mood. But he did inform me that the price hike story was true and I was sent an email informing about the same. I told him that I have not received any email from HD about this, and asked him to resend me that email to check. He promised me that he will be sending me that in 30 minutes. Its been 3 hours since then and I still don't have that email.

I did find the email which was sent earlier in my junk and it said this along with a few attachments with the hiked price.

Now after reading this email you must have figured out that a lot of things have changed from what they promised me earlier including the delivery time.

I am not sure who to believe now, the loan once approved stays valid for only 30-45 days and from the information in the email that math is not working out.

Confused !!...I think I need to visit the dealer again and confirm a few things.

Is there anyone else facing this issue ?

Did you make a deposit at the time of ordering to lock in the price?

I would also question the dealer about the MRSP price if they're trying to jack you around on price. Obviously you need to go into the dealer to sort out when it will be delivered and the actual price if you didn't lock it in with a deposit when ordering.
I wouldn't be surprised if some try to get around sticking to a set price.

They collect Rs30k as booking amount and I was informed at the time of booking that if the price changes at the time of delivery, I need to honor that. If you cancel the booking, they deduct 50% of the booking amount even if it is due to price hike.

This was mentioned on the booking form.

BTW I didn't understand what they meant by new colors? Aren't those three the only colors available from the beginning?

PS : I booked in Bangalore.

@StoneFree I paid 30K and made the booking and assumed that will lock the price as well. For the payment they gave me a receipt, along with a couple of flyers. I was not told about any possible price hike by them then. But when I read the flyer a couple of days ago I saw this "Prices & specifications are subject to change without prior notice. Prices prevailing at the time of delivery will be applicable".

I spoke to the dealer over the phone and they said its a nation wide hike and they cant do much about it. I am fine paying the increased amount (I don't have a choice) but I am not happy with the way they share information with their premium customers.

I had emailed them a couple of days ago asking them for clarification on the price hike, but no response yet.

Guess they are least bothered now, since they have my 30K already.

Hoping for things to improve in future.
The last week I visited the dealer they said they will deliver my bike in the first week of November. I called them today and now they say that they cant promise anything and it could be delayed.

I m not sure where but there are loopholes in the communication flow. Even after almost 2 months I don't have a clear idea about when my bike will be delivered and my loan is approved already.

I am going to visit the dealer this Sunday and have a list of questions to ask them.
If the deposit was based upon "prices subject to change" then I guess you're forced to accept the price increase. There's an old saying about "read everything before you sign anything" but we often forget how important that is and you're not alone in this regard.

I'm not sure how dealer ordering is being done in India but here in the US the dealers still aren't able to actually order the Street 500 or 750. The factory is allocating the motorcycles instead of the dealers placing orders for them. That makes it impossible for the dealers to track when they're going to receive the motorcycle because they don't have an order number to refer to.
