Hello,

I've installed the Renthal Ultra Low bars for my Street 500. The handlebar control boxes have a little metal prong/peg that goes into a hole in the handlebars.

Question is: Can this metal prong/peg be removed with a pair of vice grips as I don't really want to drill into the bars themselves. But, if I do have to drill into them will it affect the strength?

Thank you!

You won't affect the strength of the bar by drilling. You need to have the pegs in, and make sure you drill the hole where you want them to be placed. If you don't have the peg, the entire throttle control housing will spin when you pull the throttle. The screws don't provide enough tension to keep everything in place.

Thanks! Looks like I'll be drilling
