I looked at the price and I GOT SICK..WOW
Ok someone school me. What is the purpose of a rear view camera? Wouldnt it be best to take picture from front view? This is a serious question because I truly dont know but want to.
The price seems fair considering all the features. I mean lets be real, it has a HUD and voice controls for taking phone calls. etc.
I wouldn't want to have to look around to change lanes, it seems safer to keep looking forward and taking a quick glane to the bottom right of your HUD.

it is neat, I grant you that, I got sick because I know me, I am a gadget person so I will need to talk myself off the ledge on this one. Maybe I can get a bunch of my friends to donate towards it as a birthday present for me. ummmm

It's not really the helmet you're spending the money one, it's the new tech. The first run will be super expensive, within a few years, they'll license the technology out and you'll see it on everything else. The first wave of adopters will finance the growth, prices will drop, and within 3-5 years we'll all be wondering how the **** we ever go along without this kind of thing in the first place.

Kind of like how GPS units from 10 years ago were $1000+, and a similarly equipped current model is an order of magnitude less expensive.

I would love the skully. I think not having to look around but still be able to see every thing will be a huge safety advantage. I wouldn't even have to drop my eyes for the instrument cluster. The only thing stopping me from preordering, is the fact I cant stick one on my head to try it on. We all know how different branded helmets fit differently, even model to model. I have never understood why people resort to online shopping to save a couple of bucks for a helmet.
Going to have to wait it out, untill they are in the hands of local dealers.

Technology is good until it does not work...technology breaks....use your skills, not technology, so one day it's not working and you can't rely on it....how do you cope......i'm a techy geek, but i cannot see me ever wanting one of these....

Just saying

I agree, skills are the most important thing we can have as riders. But tech has its place and is an integral part of improving our experiences. Without improvements in technology we would never have gotten past this -
Not really the same....my point is , you learn to look in mirror and compliment that with a look over the shoulder....

I'll stick with the old way...but, don't worry....im happy to accept improvements in bike technology!

A guy I work with got in on the ground floor when it was a kickstarter with this helmet and has been waiting. The release date keeps being pushed back further and further. Also I feel $1500 is a lot to spend on a helmet when it's a one and done deal. Great you have a camera to see behind you but that doesn't help with the others around you. I live in the DC area and when I drive in my car I notice people everywhere with their face buried in their phones. Plus these people are the type to change lanes first then use their mirror and signal.

OK....so am I the only one who could see this happening? -- you are bringing your head back forward from looking off to the left, the display in the bottom right catches the corner of your eye and you think you see a squirrel running out into the road and naturally and physically react to it possibly causing an accident by a instant jerk reaction. With the transparent screen showing you what you just passed, just seems dangerous with the extra movement in your peripheral vision. Also would this be too distracting riding at night?

It's difinitely cool. I'm sure you could probably disable the backup cam if it's a distraction. Once it comes into its own, I'm sure it will be fantastic. But...it's still pretty nascent. Probably best to wait a couple generations for the bugs to be worked out (as most of us Street owners have come to realize with newly released products) and for the price to drop, if the cost even drops that much. For $1000-1500 you're going to want to be able to try it on, test out the rear camera, and try out the smartphone integration to see what the effects of all that in your field of vision have on you.
