Joined this forum because I know I can learn a lot about the bike I am getting. I am from New Zealand so we get the Street here a bit later than our North American brothers - mine is still on order. I have read and seen a lot of reviews about the HD Street 500 and 750 and what caught my attention was the HD sound which many reviews say is not really evident in this new HD model. Even the dealer where I am getting my bike recommends to replace the slip on exhaust to get the sound close to a real Harley. The Screaming Eagle brand is obviously recommended as it is in Harley catalog. There are other brands as well - Remus, TBR, Vance and Hines. I found one that had similarities to these expensive ones - Firebrand Loose Cannon 4" Slip On retailing for $249.95 Made in USA. Any one out there have this brand in use?

I got the Screaming Eagle Nightstick and the SE air cleaner installed at the dealership when I bought the bike. If you do that within 60 days, Harley adds it to your two year warranty.

Love the way it sounds!
Yes the dealer's demo unit had the SE on it and it sounds good, but it is a bit expensive to have it added as an option - NZ$700.

I have one and rode about 150 miles today. I can hear real good even with my full face modified helmet. Today I put in some ear plugs for the long ride I took today and I could hear it through those foam ear plugs with helmet on. Otherwise I go without the ear plugs for shorter runs. Oh and it certain turns heads from those riding the bigger Harleys in disbelief.
