Tuning your bike.

I am going to install the Vance and Hines slip on exhaust and the VO2 air intake system in my 750. Now instead of buying the fuelpak auto tuner can I just take it to the dealer ship to get that done? Also should I even worry about getting it tuned at all?

I'm fairly sure the Harley service department can do the tuning but just call them and ask.
I'll be doing the fuelpak fp3 here soon instead of the hd stage 1 download.
I opted for the FP3. It is a bit more than the dealer charges for a stage 1 download, but the dealer download is a one time thing. The FP3 allows you to make changes for the life of your bike, AND can provide real time data (revs, temps, gear position, and more) on a tablet or cell phone display. Vance & Hines has specific maps developed just for your combo of the Competition slip-on and VO2 air filter. Harley's tunes are generic.

Yes, you do need a tune when you change the pipe and air system, there is much more air flowing, and your bike will run too lean without proper fuel mapping.
It would be best to go with their fuelpak since you already have their exhaust and air intake.
@Obtuse I contacted the V&H customer care, and they told me the FP3 is meant to go along with the V&H intake and Exhausts only and not for the Screamin Eagle ones... any thoughts ?

From the FAQ on V&H website:

"What map do I choose if I do not see my exhaust listed?

Answer: When a map for your setup is not available, it is best to select a similar exhaust system and AutoTune that map to tune it in specifically for your setup."
Well I decided to purchase it. I am excited to see the results.

I am curious how your dealer will get this map loaded to the FP3 module. When choosing maps for a given bike, one is directed to a V&H server for map choices. I am also curious what they are charging for this file.

The cost is close to $480 for the fp3 including installation.. he did not tell me anything about extra charges for the mapping... possibly he was over selling for the auto tune feature ...
I would pin him down on this. I paid around $340 for my FP3. Installation is just plugging it in. Find a map close to your setup, then run the auto tune feature. You can change this at any time. Vance & Hines have awesome customer support, they may even have a custom map for your setup already. I think your dealer may be yanking your chain.
I would just get the fp3 from Revzilla with a good discount and run the VH map for the higher flow exhaust and filter. They will come up with a map for the SE exhaust, given some more time.

Sounds good.. but i gotta check if V&H ships to india or if they have a dealer here ...

I'll do a bit of research and post back so it might help others who're looking for that here
I buy most of my bike stuff from Revzilla.com, they do ship internationaly, including India. They have the FP3 in stock for around $350.

I just bought mine from revzilla for $300 price match.
Go to Harley Davidson Parts | Screamin Eagle Parts | Performance | Boom Audio search part # 1020-2203 add to cart then the price drops to $300. Email the link to revzilla and they will price match it.

Dynojet's Power Vision has a tuning table specifically for XG750 with Screaming Eagle exhaust and Screaming Eagle air filter.
Does anyone know if the PowerVision tables are directly usable with the FP3? Or do they work only with the PowerVision hardware/software?
