What oil to use to use for my first oil change

This forum is for the HD Street 500 and 750 bikes, so might not get many answers. With that said I have a 114 in my Freewheeler and use Mobile 1 20/50 with K&N filter. Used the same oil and filter for years on all my Harleys and never had an issue.

I believe most motorcycle manufacturers recommend a first oil change at 500 or 100 miles and then at regular intervals after that. Thee is a lot of gunk from the manufacturing process that comes out of your engine in that first oil change.

Harley will always recommend that you buy your oil, filter, replacement O-ring, drain pan, and shop rags from them. Most engine oil manufacturers have 20w50 oil suitable for diesel engines or marketed specifically for motorcycles.

Most filter manufacturers also make filters for our bikes. The filter used on most of the big bikes is often available in your choice of black or chrome finish.
